What is a "Day of" Coordinator?

Dancing Couple: Dance with your sweetheart knowing your day of coordinator is taking care of everything

Dance with your sweetheart knowing your day of coordinator is taking care of everything.

So what in the world is a day of coordinator and why would you want one? It isn’t a term many soon-to-be brides are familiar with but as you will soon find out, a day of coordinator means a stress-free wedding day for you and your loved ones.

Many soon to be brides want the control and budget savings of a “do it yourself” wedding, which is wonderful until it comes to the actual wedding day. Then the diy wedding needs someone to turn the vision into a reality. Brides, mothers-of-the-brides, maids of honor, bridesmaids and guests all have places to be on this special day. It can be very stressful to be coordinating the wedding and be in the wedding at the same time.

This is where a day of coordinator comes in to save the day and ease the stress.

Your day of coordinator handles set-up, orchestrates everything so everyone is in the right place at the right time, and handles vendor issues that might (read that “WILL”) come up so that the bride and groom and members of their wedding party don’t have to stress.

Some typical duties include:

  • Setting up flowers and programs and dealing with any issues at the ceremony location
  • Setting up flowers, decorations, escort cards, favors, guest book and other necessities at the reception venue.
  • Dealing with vendors on your special day and handling any wedding day issues
  • Coordinating transportation for the bridal party, to and from wedding, to and from reception, and if necessary guest shuttles
  • Packing food for the wedding couple to eat for when the reception is over
  • Deal with opinionated wedding guests or relatives who may wish to override the bride’s or groom’s plans
  • Basically anything that is needed to ensure your wedding day runs flawlessly and without any stress

A day of coordinator does one thing and does it very well – give the bride a stress-free day and make her plan a reality.

By having two day of coordinators (as we do at A Wedding DOC), you can have one day of coordinator at the wedding location and another at the reception location making sure that the day goes off without a hitch.  Day of coordinators can also assist with rehearsals, rehearsal dinners, and brunches if the bride would like the extra care.
